Girls U12
Worcestershire Cricket have finalised plans to have a new Under 12 Girls Squad from next year. The move has been brought forward by the suggestion of the Worcestershire Girls U11 and U13 coach, Kelly Evenson, who wanted more continuity between U11 team and the U13 team and keep the girls who are involved in the game.
The plans were further discussed at the Women’s and Girls junior Club Development meeting which was held at New Road last Tuesday. Jon Hancock, Game Development Officer, Women's and Girls/South, Worcestershire Cricket who looks after the program said, “During the junior club competitions we have seen in the number of teams entering. That can spur us to provide worthwhile competitions and new U12 county squad will definitely add more competition.”
He also highlighted the work done by Evenson, “In terms of the performances, you can see from the under 11 and 13 results. They have been exceptional. Fair play to Kelly for what she’s done with those age groups.
Other potential ideas considered during the meeting included trying to get Women’s Rapids ambassadors to attend junior sessions and competitions, more coverage for Women’s and Girls County matches, and get more young players to New Road to witness Women’s Rapids play at the county headquarters.
